UNA SETE LAGOAS – Brazil

The experience of the extension project in health and law has already been active for more than a year and has the participation of students from various health courses and the law course in actions aimed at the community of the municipality of Sete Lagoas, in the interior of the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. The city of Sete Lagoas is very strong in the industrial sector but has numerous ills that the project seeks to minimize. Students of the physiotherapy, biomedicine, nursing, nutrition, psychology and law courses work in this extension project. So far we have had incredible results by acting directly in companies, schools, pharmacies, councils and public places and public events. The students of the project act according to their expertise according to the undergraduate course. Students of health courses can measure blood pressure, measure blood sugar level. Students of the nutrition course make nutritional guidelines, students of the dentistry course give oral health guidelines, explain about care and oral diseases. Psychology students address topics such as bulling, ADHD, autism, among others. Biomedicine students, in addition to measuring blood pressure and measuring blood sugar level, provide guidance regarding informing the population about the tests and care that should be done throughout life. Physiotherapy students do postural guidance and myofascial release. Law students give informative lectures on personal rights, women’s rights, among other subjects
