Automation in action: an inside look with Optimation AB

The workshop “Automation in Action”, led by Dr. André Yamashita from Optimation AB, introduces students to the practical world of industrial automation, simulation, and process control. Through real case studies and live demonstrations of controller tuning with advanced simulators, participants explore how automation drives efficiency, innovation, and sustainability across industries.
This activity perfectly aligns with the goals of the Erasmus+ AutoSTEM project (“Engaging Students in Automation and Control for Equality”), which aims to integrate automation into high school education, spark interest in STEM/STEAM—especially among girls—and bridge the gap between education and industry. By exposing students and educators to industrial applications and digital transformation, the seminar provides a real-world context for AutoSTEM’s educational kits and workshops, reinforcing its mission to make automation accessible, engaging, and inclusive.
