WORKPRIS Final seminar – Engagement of third sector organisations (TSOs) and prison services in Europe

As part of the #ErasmusDays 2025, we are delighted to host the international online seminar of the Erasmus+ project WORKPRIS – Preparing Third Sector Organisations for working with people in prison. The seminar will take place on Friday, 17 October 2025, 10:00–13:00 (CET).

WORKPRIS is an Erasmus+ KA210-VET project that supports the Pact for Skills “Liberate Skills” commitment to strengthen the professionalisation of prison staff and the involvement of third sector organisations (TSOs) in prisons. By developing innovative training models and competence profiles, the project promotes the capacity of TSOs to provide essential services for people in prison – from reintegration programmes and educational opportunities to mental health and addiction support.

The event has been deliberately scheduled to coincide with the Erasmus+ Days, as this platform embodies the very values that underpin WORKPRIS: inclusion, justice, solidarity, and human dignity. Hosting the seminar within the Erasmus+ Days highlights our shared European commitment to learning from one another, to building skills across borders, and to ensuring that the work of TSOs contributes to safer, fairer and more inclusive communities.

During this 3-hour online seminar, participants will:
• Discover inspiring practices in engaging and training TSO staff working in prisons.
• Explore a new competence profile for TSO staff working with incarcerated people.
• Gain access to a validated workshop outline designed to support TSOs in their professional development.

In the second half of the seminar, interactive breakout discussions will provide space for participants to connect, exchange perspectives and identify opportunities for future cooperation.

The seminar is being planned by Richtungswechsel (Austria) together with our partners Volonté Czech o.p.s (Czech Republic) and CiK (Germany), and will bring together justice professionals, TSOs, prison staff, probation services, policymakers, researchers, and training practitioners from across Europe.

By linking WORKPRIS with the Erasmus+ Days, we want to celebrate Erasmus+ as a catalyst for collaboration and innovation. Erasmus+ not only funds projects – it inspires us to live European values, to work together beyond borders, and to create concrete impact in the lives of people and communities.
