Presentation: Vocational orientation of energy – vocational orientation in schools as a significant contribution to the energy transition in rural areas.

The aim of the project is to contribute to reducing the shortage of skilled workers in the energy sector, with focus on rural regions across Europe. In order to achieve this, we are bringing together actors from various European countries in the project, who are already actively involved in the area of environment and climate and who see these issues as an integral part of the own training philosophy of young people in career orientation. We would like to exchange ideas with you as experts on the following questions and find solutions together:  What methods have already been used positively to inspire young people to take up training occupations in the energy sector?  Which formats are target-oriented and have already proven successful in working with the target group to convey the urgency of the field of action in the energy sector?  Which extracurricular educational venues have been convincing in raising young people’s awareness of the topic in the long term?
The result of the project is a guide / handout. This is to be made available to other actors who work with young people in careers orientation, in order to sensitize the target group to the shortage of skilled workers in the energy sector and to motivate them for training in this field. The handout can contain, for example, scripts for hands-on workshops in which young people aged around 14 and older can gain exciting insights into a wide range of energy-related professions and subsequently decide to pursue appropriate training.
