Transcending Boundaries with Mangala: Culture, Mathematics, and Strategy Workshop
Alatarla Köyü Yolu, Alatarla/Taşköprü/Kastamonu, Türkiye
Alatarla Middle School
This activity is planned to disseminate the Mangala game—originally played during the Erasmus+ student group mobility held in Ohrid, North Macedonia, between April 19 and 24, 2026—within the school environment.
The Mangala game, which fostered interaction among students from diverse cultures during the Erasmus+ mobility, will be played again with students during this event. As part of the workshop, the basic rules and strategies of the game will be explained, and students will have the opportunity to play in pairs or groups.
The activity aims to enable students to utilize skills such as mathematical thinking, strategy development, problem-solving, attention, patience, and decision-making during gameplay. Additionally, the role of traditional games in intercultural interaction and collaborative learning processes will be highlighted.
The event aligns with the Erasmus+ program’s objectives regarding intercultural learning, cooperation, and the development of future-oriented skills. It seeks to ensure that students learn by leveraging their mobility experience, share knowledge with their peers, and gain awareness of different cultures.
