Erasmus Days 2026 – Sustainability in Focus: Water and Forests

From 12–16 October 2026, Tamási Béri Balogh Ádám Katolikus Gimnázium will celebrate Erasmus Days 2026 with a week-long programme dedicated to one of the most important challenges facing Europe and the world: sustainability. With a special focus on water and forests, the event will bring together students, teachers, Erasmus+ partners, experts and members of the local community to explore how we can protect our natural environment and build a more sustainable future.

The central idea of the event is that environmental responsibility is both a local and a European concern. Water and forests know no national borders: rivers connect communities and countries, while forests form essential ecosystems that contribute to biodiversity, climate regulation, clean air and human well-being. Through the Erasmus+ spirit of cooperation, our school would like to create a space where participants can share knowledge, experiences and practical ideas for protecting these precious resources.

The programme will include an exhibition, round-table discussions, presentations, and meetings. The exhibition will present students’ creative work, research, projects and visual materials connected with ecology, water conservation, forests, biodiversity and sustainable living. It will provide an opportunity for students to communicate environmental issues in an accessible and inspiring way and to demonstrate that young people can play an active role in shaping the future.

A central element of the programme will be a round table on sustainability. The discussion will address questions such as: How can we use water responsibly? What can schools and communities do to protect forests? How can young people contribute to environmental action? And how can European cooperation help us find solutions to challenges that affect everyone? The round table will encourage dialogue between different generations and perspectives, while focusing on practical solutions rather than problems alone.

During the presentations, students will have the opportunity to introduce their projects, environmental initiatives and experiences. These presentations will demonstrate how education, cooperation and creativity can contribute to sustainability. Participants will be encouraged to compare local experiences and discover common European challenges and opportunities.

The programme reflects the values of our school and of European cooperation: responsibility, solidarity, respect for creation, dialogue and active citizenship. Sustainability will therefore be presented not simply as an environmental topic, but as a way of thinking and living. Caring for water and forests means caring for our communities, our health, future generations and the common European home we share.

Our school is located in the heart of Europe, but Europe is also present in our hearts through our partnerships, friendships, shared values and common responsibilities. By bringing together ecology, education and European cooperation, Erasmus Days 2026 will demonstrate that even small local actions can contribute to meaningful international change.

We invite students, teachers, local organisations and members of the community to join us between 12 and 16 October 2026. Together, we can learn more about our environment, exchange ideas, inspire one another and take steps towards a greener and more sustainable Europe.
