Skill Up, Europe! – Learning and Growing: Skills for Tomorrow
As part of Erasmus Days 2026, Foley’s School presents “Skill Up, Europe!”, an engaging whole-school initiative inspired by this year’s theme, “Learning and Growing: Skills for Tomorrow.” The event encourages pupils to think beyond qualifications and consider the skills that will help them learn, adapt, connect, create and contribute in an ever-changing world.
Through a series of short, interactive Form Time activities, pupils explore key future-ready skills including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, digital skills, problem-solving, adaptability and intercultural understanding. They are encouraged to recognise how these skills are developed not only through individual subjects, but also through teamwork, relationships, challenges, international projects and everyday learning experiences.
The programme also highlights the wider value of Erasmus+. Pupils discover that an Erasmus+ experience is much more than travelling abroad: meeting new people, communicating across languages, adapting to unfamiliar situations, solving unexpected problems and exchanging ideas and cultures all help develop confidence, independence and a more international outlook.
The activities culminate in the lively “Skills for Tomorrow Challenge”, followed by a collaborative Skills Tree. Each pupil adds a leaf identifying one skill they would like to develop and one practical action they can take to strengthen it. Together, the individual leaves create a whole-school visual representation of learning and growth—and a reminder that skills develop through practice.
