Centrul Școlar de Educație Incluzivă Buzău

Presentation

The event will bring together teachers from Centrul Școlar de Educație Incluzivă Buzău for a dissemination session on Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), within the Erasmus+ project “Edu Zone. Inclusive communication for all”.
Corina Nica, Dan Gabriel Pioară and Alexandra Gabriela Băicoianu will share the knowledge and practical experience gained during their mobility in Nuremberg, Germany, from 4 to 8 May 2026.
The session will explore the principles of AAC and its role in supporting students with complex communication needs, including non-speaking students. Practical examples will include pictograms, communication boards and visual supports that help students express basic needs, make choices and participate in educational activities. Teachers will discuss how these resources can be adapted to individual needs and integrated into everyday classroom routines.
The event will prepare teachers for a follow-up initiative in which classes with non-speaking students will dedicate one lesson to applying AAC techniques. By connecting dissemination with classroom practice, the initiative will encourage collaboration among teachers and the continued use of accessible communication strategies throughout the school.
