Museum of King Jan III's Palace at Wilanów

Other event

As part of Erasmus Days, the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów invites visitors to explore the many connections between Wilanów and Europe. Although deeply rooted in Polish history, Wilanów has always been part of a broader European cultural landscape. Its architecture, art collections, gardens, and historical traditions reflect centuries of exchange, inspiration, and dialogue across borders.

The residence of King Jan III Sobieski was shaped by European artistic trends and intellectual currents. Italian influences can be found throughout the palace, while the gardens and surrounding landscape reveal ideas and styles that travelled across Europe and were adapted in Wilanów. The palace stands as a testament to the shared cultural heritage that connects European societies and reminds us that creativity, knowledge, and innovation have always transcended national boundaries.

Our participation in the Erasmus+ programme enables museum staff to deepen their professional knowledge, exchange experiences with colleagues from other countries, and discover new approaches to museum education, heritage interpretation, accessibility, sustainability, and audience engagement. These international experiences inspire our daily work and help us develop new ways of sharing heritage with visitors.

During Erasmus Days, we would like to pass on some of these European perspectives to our guests. By highlighting Wilanów’s international connections, we aim to promote the values at the heart of Erasmus+: learning, cooperation, openness, cultural diversity, and active participation in society. We believe that museums play an important role in building connections between people and cultures, and in fostering a sense of belonging to a shared European community.
