Breaking Gender Bias: Rethinking Gender Roles in Education and Work
Via Erbosa, 5A, Arezzo, Province of Arezzo, Italy
OpenCom i.s.s.c.
What if the career you “naturally” imagined for yourself was partly shaped by gender stereotypes you never chose? Across Europe, shortage occupations still lack gender balance, and traditional roles continue to steer young people’s study and career choices: boys toward technical and scientific fields, girls toward caregiving and social professions.
Hosted by OpenCom in Arezzo as part of a mobility programme, this event invites Erasmus students to explore and challenge these dynamics together. Drawing on the Erasmus+ project BGB-VET “Breaking Gender Bias in VET”, we will open a space for honest, cross-cultural dialogue.
Through guided reflection and group discussion, participants will share how gender norms are experienced in their home countries, recognise bias in everyday educational and workplace situations, and reflect on their own role as agents of change.
