The international conference “Learning to Care: Education and Training in Culture and Health”, taking place on 15–16 October 2026 in Riga, Latvia, and online, brings together professionals from culture, health, social care and education to explore how new skills and cross-sectoral cooperation can contribute to better health, wellbeing and social inclusion. Organised jointly by the EU-funded WITAC (Erasmus+) and CARE projects, the conference focuses on developing education and training opportunities for professionals working at the intersection of arts, culture and health.
Through keynote presentations, panel discussions, practical workshops and networking, participants will explore existing educational approaches, share experiences and identify the skills and competencies needed for effective collaboration between sectors. A particular highlight will be the presentation of the new Baltic lifelong learning programme “Culture and Health: Managing Cross-sector Initiatives”, developed within the Erasmus+ WITAC project, alongside practical examples of arts-based initiatives supporting wellbeing and inclusion.
The conference will show how lifelong learning, interdisciplinary education, and practical experience can equip professionals with new competencies to address societal challenges and help build healthier, more inclusive communities.
