The European Tree – United in Diversity
Main hall / common area at IES Ifach
Avenida Casanova, Calp, Spain
IES Ifach
The European Tree – United in Diversity is a collaborative artistic installation created by the students of IES Ifach to celebrate Erasmus Days 2026.
During the days leading up to the event, different groups of students will contribute to the creation of a large European tree, which will be displayed in a prominent area of the school.
The leaves of the tree will be represented by the flags of different European countries. Each flag will also include a word, expression or value connected to Europe and, whenever possible, written in one of the languages of the country represented.
Peace, respect, equality, solidarity, diversity, peaceful coexistence, inclusion, freedom and cooperation are some of the values that will shape the tree.
The installation will symbolise a Europe made up of different cultures, languages and identities that share common values and a common space.
The activity is directly linked to the Erasmus Plan of IES Ifach, which includes the promotion of European values and the development of a more inclusive, global and multilingual educational community among its main objectives.
In a school community where more than forty nationalities coexist, the European Tree aims to highlight cultural diversity as an asset, promote empathy and intercultural understanding and strengthen students’ sense of belonging to a diverse European community.
The tree will remain on display after Erasmus Days as a symbol of the internationalisation process of IES Ifach and of the school’s commitment to inclusion, peaceful coexistence and European values.
