Round table

What skills and professional profiles do museums need today?

The museum and cultural sector is undergoing a profound transformation in order to respond to the challenges of an increasingly complex, hyperconnected and technological world. In this constantly evolving landscape, it becomes essential to ask which profiles, languages and skills are needed to navigate change. On the occasion of the Erasmus Days, on the afternoon of Monday 12 October, the Education Department of Fondazione Morra Greco is promoting and hosting, on the Foundation’s premises, an open meeting and discussion for those working in education and the arts, for the cultural management network, and for students and final-year students of the Academy of Fine Arts – Art Education section. The round table will bring together, in person and online, the partners of the international consortium of the MusEdu+ project: the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg, responsible for scientific rigour and the pedagogical framework; the museums involved in testing and validating the models in the field, namely the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, the MNAC (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya) and the Muzeum Narodowe w Krakowie, together with the DATABENC High Technology District. During the afternoon, two free training courses developed within the Erasmus+ project and starting next spring will be previewed: “Advanced Museum Project Manager”, geared towards cultural project design, management and the governance of the digital transition in museums, and “Advanced Museum Educator / Communicator”, focused on mediation, educational practices and new communication strategies for heritage. It will be an opportunity for exchange and networking, to share visions and discover new free training opportunities in the field of museum innovation.
