Can you make your idea heard in just 60 seconds?
SPEAK • LISTEN • CONNECT
The 60-Second Communication Challenge is an interactive activity designed to develop students’ speaking, active listening, confidence, spontaneous thinking, and interpersonal communication skills.
Students work in pairs. One student randomly chooses a Challenge Card, has a few seconds to think, and speaks about the given topic for up to 60 seconds. The partner listens carefully and must ask a follow-up question when the speaker finishes. The students then switch roles and repeat the challenge.
The activity focuses not only on speaking clearly and expressing ideas, but also on active listening and responding meaningfully to others. Students are encouraged to speak freely without worrying about accuracy or performance.
Challenge topics are connected to students’ everyday lives, interests, dreams, future skills, technology, teamwork, school life, and personal experiences.
At the end, students can reflect on their experience by choosing a sticker:

The activity takes approximately 3–4 minutes per pair and can be run simultaneously at four tables, allowing several students to participate at the same time.

Good communication is not only about speaking. It is also about listening, connecting, and responding.
