Day 2 of Erasmus+ Week 2026 takes participants on a journey through the history of Europe and the Erasmus programme – from an idea of peace and cooperation to one of the most successful European programmes for education and mobility.
Students will discover the importance of the Schuman Declaration of 1950, follow key moments in the development of the European Union and learn how Erasmus was created in 1987. The programme will also explore how Erasmus developed into Erasmus+, creating new opportunities for education, mobility and international cooperation.
Special activities will focus on Bulgaria’s place in Europe, the differences between Europe “then and now”, and the ways European cooperation has become part of everyday school life.
Through a timeline, interactive tasks and a short quiz, students will see that Europe is not only a geographical place – it is a story of cooperation, opportunities and people.
1950 – one idea. 1987 – one opportunity. 2026 – thousands of stories. The next one could be yours!
