As part of the Erasmus Days 2026, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), in collaboration with the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Thessaloniki, invites Erasmus+ students to discover the cultural heritage and unique character of Thessaloniki through a walk in the city’s historic Upper City (Ano Poli).

Under this year’s Erasmus Days theme, “Learning and growing — skills for tomorrow”, the activity highlights learning beyond the classroom and the valuable skills that students develop through international mobility. Exploring the host city, engaging with its history and heritage, interacting with local culture and connecting with people from different backgrounds are all an integral part of the Erasmus+ experience.

Cultural Trails: Upper City offers participants the opportunity to explore one of the most picturesque and historically significant areas of Thessaloniki, discover its traditional neighborhoods and landmarks, learn more about the city’s history and enjoy panoramic views over Thessaloniki and the Thermaic Gulf.

Through this cultural experience, students will have the opportunity to strengthen skills such as intercultural communication, social interaction, adaptability, curiosity and openness to new perspectives — skills that contribute to both personal growth and their future academic and professional lives.

The activity also aims to foster a sense of community among international students and encourage their active engagement with the city in which they are spending their Erasmus+ mobility.
