From Barriers to Opportunities: Building Inclusive Initiatives Through European Cooperation

This Erasmus Days 2026 event will explore how universities can contribute to more inclusive and equitable access to educational, scientific and international opportunities.
The programme will open with a screening of Refugee Girls, a UNIMED documentary highlighting the experiences of young refugee women and their access to higher education.
The screening will lead into a dialogue on barriers to inclusion, the importance of role models, and the value of mentoring and support networks.
The event will also showcase UPCT initiatives and Erasmus+ projects addressing diversity and inclusion, as well as experiences from members of the international research community.
A new UPCT Mentoring Network for Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in European Projects will also be presented and launched.
The event will conclude with a participatory session inviting attendees to share their own experiences and ideas on what helps people feel included.
Through dialogue, networking and exchange of ideas, the activity aims to turn awareness into concrete opportunities for cooperation and future European projects.
