From the Aetolian League to the EU: Democracy as a Pillar of Inclusion.

As part of #ErasmusDays 2026, the Gymnasium of Thermo, organizes an experiential activity connecting local historical heritage with modern European values. Drawing inspiration from the Aetolian League —one of the earliest democratic institutions of equal cooperation— and its evolution into the European Union, students explore democracy as a foundation for inclusion, respect for diversity, and active citizenship.
Through interactive workshops, a simulated student assembly, and digital content creation, students develop essential soft skills such as empathy, critical dialogue, and collaboration, highlighting that in a truly democratic society, every voice is equal and matters.
