Eating Healthy: “A Journey Through Cultures and Traditions”. The event is an opportunity to learn, have fun and discover the culinary traditions of Europe. The objectives are:
• Raise students’ awareness of the importance of a balanced diet.
• Explore different European culinary traditions and their impact on health.
• Promote teamwork and inclusion to develop the collaboration and the intercultural communication skills
Project Structure:
1. Introduction to the theme o Initial Presentation: A brief introduction by a nutrition expert of our school about the importance of good nutrition and the variety of diets in Europe. o Brainstorming activity: Group reflection on what “eating healthy” means in different countries.
2. Exploration of European dishes o Research and presentations: Each student group chooses an European country and researches its traditional healthy dishes. They realize a presentation that includes:
- Main ingredients.
- Nutritional benefits.
- Cultural curiosities.
- Enviromental impact.
- Final discussion and reflections o Group discussion: Reflection on how different cultures approach health and nutrition.
- Cooking workshop o Sharing and tasting: Students and teachers prepare and taste bread and tomato in the garden, the symbol of Italian gastronomic tradition with a rich history and many local varieties.
