In celebration of #ErasmusDays, we invite our adult learners to a special screening of the powerful documentary “Sonita”. This inspiring and moving film tells the story of Sonita Alizadeh, an Afghan teenager who faces the prospect of being forced into an arranged marriage by her family, according to traditional customs. Despite these immense cultural pressures, Sonita courageously fights to pursue her passion and ultimate dream of becoming a rapper.
Following the screening, we will facilitate an open and reflective discussion with our learners. This session will delve into the critical themes presented in the film, including: Child and forced marriages: Examining the profound impact on young girls’ lives and futures. The rights of young women and girls: Discussing universal rights and the challenges of cultural traditions. The pursuit of dreams in the face of adversity. Any other topics or issues that resonated with or challenged our attendees during the viewing.
This event aims to foster a deeper understanding of diverse cultural perspectives, spark meaningful dialogue on human rights, and encourage our learners to reflect on the importance of empowerment and self-determination.
