In celebration of ErasmusDays, Birol Emil Secondary School is organizing a special event that combines environmental awareness with sports to highlight the importance of protecting Van Lake, one of Turkey’s natural treasures. This event is designed to bring attention to the environmental challenges faced by Van Lake, specifically its pollution, while promoting physical activity through the sport of floor curling. The event will focus on two key Erasmus+ projects currently being coordinated by our school: “Digitalized Eco-School” – This project aims to enhance teachers’ digital skills while fostering environmental awareness within the school community. “Floor Curling for Growth” – This project supports students’ personal development through the sport of floor curling, encouraging teamwork, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle. Event Highlights: Floor Curling Tournament: Students will participate in a friendly competition that encourages physical activity and teamwork while learning about environmental sustainability. Environmental Cleanup Activity: Following the tournament, participants will engage in a hands-on cleanup of Van Lake’s shore, highlighting the critical need to preserve our environment for future generations. Awareness Campaign: The event will raise awareness about the pollution of Van Lake, and participants will hold banners and signs emphasizing the importance of protecting the lake as a valuable resource. These messages will also be shared widely on social media platforms to reach a broader audience. Through this ErasmusDays event, we aim to create a fun and educational experience that reinforces the connection between sports, personal development, and environmental protection. The event serves as a platform to encourage participants and the broader community to act responsibly towards the environment, utilizing both traditional and digital methods of spreading awareness. Join us in preserving Van Lake and making a difference for a sustainable future!
